The Tembo Deck and Tembo Galleria at the top of the Tokyo Skytree (the world’s tallest tower) boast 360-degree views overlooking the biggest city in the world!

Standing tall at 634 meters above the ground, this is hands down one of the best attractions in Tokyo that you must see during your Tokyo city trip.

I have put together this complete guide of the Tokyo Skytree Japan including how to get there, where to book tickets, and what to expect!

WHERE IS TOKYO SKYTREE?

The Tokyo Sky Tree is located in Sumida and can be very easily reached with the Tokyo Metro.

Click here to see the location on Google maps.

Ride the metro to Oshiage Station (SKYTREE) and follow the signs to the Tokyo Skytree. It should take you no more than 5-10 minutes to reach the ticketing counters at the base of the Skytree.

TOKYO SKYTREE TICKETS

The Tokyo Skytree Tower is one of the most popular tourist attractions in Tokyo, and so I recommend booking online in advance to secure a ticket.

I purchased my Tokyo Skytree Ticket online with Klook, which was very simple and convenient. Booking with Viator also gives you the bonus option to skip the long queues on the day you plan to visit!

ARRIVING AT SKYTREE TOKYO

When you arrive at the entrance to the Skytree, there are many friendly staff waiting to assist and point you in the right direction of where to go.

As I mentioned before, when booking online with Klook you can skip the long queues and exchange your online booking voucher for an official ticket using one of the automated machines.

Once you’ve got your ticket you can proceed to the security check and then ride the elevator to the Skytree Tembo Deck and Tembo Galleria!

Travel Japan with the JR Pass!

Jonny Melon | Adventure Travel Blog (5)

Get a 7-day, 14-day, or 21-day JR Pass for your trip to Japan and enjoy unlimited travel on trains and buses!

The JR Pass is valid on the Shinkansen (bullet train), Limited Express, Local Trains, Monorail, and JR Buses.

WHAT TO EXPECT AT TOKYO SKYTREE OBSERVATION DECK

The BEST view of Tokyo City is what you can ultimately expect at the Skytree observation deck! Top-to-bottom glass windows line the outer edges of the Tembo Deck and Tembo Galleria offering panoramic views of the concrete jungle that Tokyo City is!

My brother Chris and I walked right the way around the Tembo Deck, peering through the glass windows to see every perspective of the city that we possibly could! We were in complete awe of what lay before our eyes. Some would say chaos, others would say a work of art.

There are large interactive maps that visitors can use which allows you to zoom in on buildings, temples, and other interesting landmarks dotted around Tokyo City. On a clear day, you can even see Mt Fuji off in the distance!

There are a number of souvenir shops, photography exhibitions, and the Tokyo Skytree Restaurant on the Tembo Deck which is a great spot to grab a beer and something to eat while marveling at the craziness of Tokyo.

I recommend visiting at around 4 pm in the afternoon to catch a sunset and then witness the city start illuminating as night falls.
