Jeremy Clarkson is a polarising figure with just as many detractors as supporters, famous for his outspoken views and no-nonsense approach.
The former Top Gear host and broadcaster has had a successful career in front of the camera and as a columnist, and there’s no signs of slamming the brakes yet.
He’s the presenter of Amazon’s The Grand Tour – alongside ex-Top Gear stars James May and Richard Hammond – and he’s got two other shows on the go: Clarkson’s Farm and It’s Clarkson on TV.
Let’s look at Jeremy’s career and personal life highlights.
How old is Jeremy Clarkson?
Jeremy Clarkson was born in Doncaster in April 1960, making him 61 years old.
His mum was a teacher and his father was a travelling salesman, and together they ran a business selling tea cosies, before they branched out into stuffed Paddington Bears.
His parents sent him to the posh, independent Repton School where he claims he was subject to beatings by older boys.
Clarkson was expelled from Repton for bad behaviour, though he had made good friends at the school, including future Top Gear producer Andy Wilman and F1 engineer Adrian Newey.
He went on to be trained as a journalist with theRotherham Advertiser, and also voiced a public school boy in a BBC radio show called Children’s Hour.
His intention was to write about cars for a living, and he worked his way up through a series of increasingly exciting car reviews for various papers, before writing for Top Gear magazine from 1993.
Prior to that he’d bagged his first major TV job presenting on the BBC’s Top Gear show in 1988. He also hosted the first series of Robot Wars.
The popularity of his work on Top Gear led him to have a short-lived chat show between 1998 and 2000 as well.
How tall is Jeremy Clarkson?
Clarkson is literally larger than live, standing at a whopping 6 feet 5 inches.
James May isn’t far behind, with a height of exactly 6 feet.
While Richard Hammond, often nicknamed ‘The Hamster’ for his diminutive stature, stands at just 5 foot 5 inches.
Is Jeremy Clarkson married?
Jeremy Clarkson is currently not married, but he is dating.
Since 2017, Clarkson has been in a relationship with Irish-born former actress andscreenplay writer Lisa Hogan, who features in his Amazon Prime series Clarkson’s Farm.
He has been married twice, first toAlexandra James in 1989, six months before she left him for his friend.
He then wedhis manager Frances Cain in 1993 and they had three children, Finlo, Katya, and Emily. Frances filed for divorce in 2014.
Life after Top Gear from The Grand Tour to Clarkson’s Farm
Clarkson abruptly exited the car-focused TV series in2015following a physical altercation with a producer.
Since then he’s appeared on a number of shows, including Who Do You Think You Are? and Have I Got News For You.
In November 2016, a new motoring programme called The Grand Tour kicked off on Amazon Prime.
Clarkson and co-stars Richard Hammond and James May review cars (both new and vintage classics), and travel around the world. The Grand Tour has seen the presenters travel to the Mekong River, Colombia, Réunion, Madagascar, and the wilds of Scotland.
In March 2018 it was announced he’d host a revamped version of Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?
Most recently, he’s been starring in his own Amazon series, Clarkson’s Farm, following his purchase of a farm – documenting his attempts at becoming a legitimate farmer.
