The Light Duty Hybrid Electric Vehicle Technology Industry Certification program prepares students to become National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Certified Light Duty Hybrid Electric Vehicle Specialist by providing technical skills and competencies, based on the standards set by ASE, in hybrid engines, motor/generators, energy management systems, transaxles, power electronics, and hybrid electric vehicle support systems.

The Collision Repair & Refinishing Technology (formerly Autobody), Secondary program prepares students for transition into the postsecondary environment. The program offers introductory courses in two of the four major areas as defined by the National Automotive Technicians Education Foundation, NATEF. These areas include Autobody Non-Structural & Damage Repair and Autobody Painting & Refinishing. Graduates of the program will possess foundational knowledge and skills that can be built upon at the college level. Graduates of the program that receive a “B” or better in all courses and attain 180 hours of collision repair & refinishing related work experience will be awarded a Certificate of Mastery in Collision Repair & Refinishing Technology. Graduates that receive a “C” or better in all courses will receive a Certificate of Completion.

The courses listed below will prepare the student to take Cisco’s CCNA exam. These courses prepare the student for configuration of networks using routers, switches and hubs (Local Area Network). Continuing coursework prepares the student to understand Wide Area Networks (WAN). Next, a student focuses on Network Layers, Cisco Internetwork Operating System software user interface, router configuration, startup and setup configuration sources for Cisco IOS software TCP/IP, configuration router interfaces with IP and routing protocols. Other coursework involves LAN design and implementation. Final preparatory coursework includes fundamentals of Wide Area Networks. Coursework must be taken in sequence. After successful completion of the four networking courses, a student will be ready to take the Cisco CCNA exam.

Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) Industry Certification

The courses listed below will prepare the student to take Cisco’s CCNP exam. The CCNP certification indicates advanced knowledge of networks. These courses train the student to install, configure, and troubleshoot local and wide area networks for enterprise organizations with networks from 100 to more than 500 nodes. The content emphasizes topics such as security, converged networks, quality of service (QoS), virtual private networks (VPN) and broadband technologies. Coursework must be taken in sequence. After successful completion of the four professional networking courses, a student will be ready to take the Cisco CCNP exam.

The Bachelor of Science in Career and Technical Education (BS CTE) program aims to produce high-quality CTE educators who will possess technical expertise, pedagogical competencies and values to effectively teach 21st century skills, using culturally-responsive teaching, to diverse learners. The program conforms to the standards of the Association for Advancing Quality in Educator Preparation (AAQEP) and the National Board of Professional Teaching Standards (NBPTS-CTE). As designed, the program provides students with the necessary tools to seek employment in K-12, trade and technical schools, community colleges, and in industry or business environments. This program offers students the opportunity to articulate an Associate Degree in any career and technical education field of study to GCC’s Bachelor of Science in CTE. It also prepares students for CTE teaching certification with the Guam Educator Commission for Certification. During the first year of the program, students learn the principles and concepts of marketing. In the second year, students apply what they have learned in the student store (marketing lab). The mission of the Nursing and Allied Health Department is to generate locally educated and licensed nurses to work in the various health care provider agencies on Guam and the Pacific region. The Guam Community College Nursing Program is committed to providing career guidance and education in nursing to those students from Guam and the Pacific region who desire to become Practical Nurses. Upon completion of program requirements, students will earn an Associate’s Degree in Practical Nursing and will be eligible to apply and take the National Council Licensure Examination for Practical Nurses (NCLEX-PN). Licensure is granted through the Guam Board of Nurse Examiners.

Training students in managerial, supervisory, and organizational skills is also emphasized.

Lodging Management Program

The three-year Tourism and Hospitality Program at the secondary level provides high school students with education and training to prepare for entry-level to semi-skilled level jobs in the tourism and hospitality industry. Students can earn from three to five credits in the Tourism & Hospitality cluster towards graduation. Students who successfully complete all course requirements will be awarded the GCC Certificate of Completion in Tourism. GCC Certificate of Mastery in Tourism will be awarded to those who completed all the required courses in addition to at least one credit in Co-Op work experience. Students are eligible to earn national certificates from the Educational Institute of American Hotel and Lodging Association.

ProStart is a three-year nationally recognized program developed by the National Restaurant Association Educational Foundation (NRAEF). It is based on the study of food preparation, customer service, and food service management.
